Our mission is to create a happier and healthier Hartford.

Is it your first time to Downtown Yoga?

Yoga is about caring for yourself and your personal wellness in a friendly environment. Be comfortable, wearing clothing that is nonrestrictive is best. We have mats available to borrow here at the studio.

Please try to arrive 5-10 minutes before class to register at our front desk. Take off your shoes, silence your cell phone, and you’re good to go! If you need to leave early, please do so before Savasana, the final meditation, begins.

Come prepared to leave refreshed and recharged!

Caring and Creating

We enjoy participating in events citywide and invite local artists, non-profits, and other creative groups to utilize our Collaborative Space. Our monthly workshops partner with local businesses and organizations to showcase everything our city has to offer.

We are happy to support local causes with auction items. Please contact Emily to learn more about our Collaborative Space or to request a donation for your cause.

Our Yoga Classes

Our classes are designed to be approachable for all levels of practice in a smaller, more intimate class setting, allowing our teachers to give personal attention to every student.

Class at Downtown Yoga

Intro to Yoga

Our Intro to Yoga classes are a great way to explore and develop a foundation for your own yoga practice. During our Intro to Yoga class, students will learn basic yoga postures as well as breathing and relaxation techniques. Our instructor will help you focus on poses to strengthen and stretch your body from your fingers to your toes, help you develop body awareness as well as, guide you through proper alignment to avoid injury. We often use props during these classes to support and assist students throughout instruction.

Relax & Renew

Great for all levels of practice. In this class, postures are presented in a slow meditative manner. Class content may include, breath work, meditation, twists, hip and chest openers. There is a heavy concentration on relaxation and stretching. This is a perfect class for those brand new to yoga and people who have been practicing for years.

Flow

Vinyasa Flow is breath synchronized movement. In a Vinyasa Flow class, our instructors will move students from one position to the next with a strong focus on breath awareness. The poses run together smoothly, often resembling a dance. This style of class focuses on core movement and stretching, offering a lot of variety.

Power

Power Yoga is more of a wellness based yoga class. During these classes, students raise their heart rates by moving vigorously from one pose to the next. Class may focus on breath awareness, core work, and balancing techniques. This class tends to have a strong, fast paced sequencing that pushes you to your edge. Power classes increase your focus, strength and stamina. There is a strong emphasis on stretching and flexibility during these classes, but there is always time toward the end of class for a cool down and Savasana.

Fusion

Our Fusion class is designed to gently stretch, heal and restore the body with a focus on breath. The three styles of yoga incorporated are: gentle stretching, yin (longer holds of poses) and restorative (poses where the body is supported with props). It will leave you feeling focused, soothed and calm relieving you from the stress of your day.

Meditation

Meditation with June Hyjek. Class will discuss and explore transcendental and spirit guide meditations, as well as intercessory prayer and chanting. This series is not about religion or any denomination. The connection we strive for transcends religion and is about achieving higher levels of consciousness – for relaxation, insight, wisdom, creativity and growth. Please join us to practice these meditations and increase your connection to yourself and those around you.

Cycled Energy is a revolution in renewable wellness as we convert the energy produced from cycling workouts into clean and renewable energy. When you pedal, your body produces useable electricity.

Cycling can be intimidating, but not here. Creating energy takes the entire class making our cycling classes a group exercise, not an individual quest to destroy calories. We can even monitor the daily energy produced by each class.

Studio Cycling: What To Expect

Hop on one of our green energy cycling bikes for a challenging sixty minute ride. Watch the energy you create as you power through class go right back into the grid! Our instructors will motive you with powerful training techniques allowing you to achieve your fitness goals.

Cyclists should bring water, but we do have our own Cycled Energy water available for just $1. If you’re new to cycling, try to arrive 15 minutes early to learn how to properly adjust the bike.

There are moving parts on our cycling bikes. Please wear appropriate clothing, nothing baggy or overly loose fitting. Shorts, yoga pants, and tank tops are all appropriate options.

Our Collaboration Space is a blend of art, culture, and new experiences. We encourage you to use our space as your venue. If you have a class or program for this community space please contact us and talk with Emily about available times.

Our space is 1200 square feet with a sound system, bathroom, and can accommodate any number of class styles.

If you park on the street in Hartford, don't forget to feed your meter. Hartford street meters run 8am-6pm for a $1/hr. Parking on the weekends is free.

Remember that Pratt Street is One-Way, so you'll have to enter from Trumbell Street. If you are coming from Main Street, you can turn onto Asylum Street and Park in the 777 Main - ProPark Garage, or continue right onto Trumbell Street and immediately take another right onto Pratt Street.
